FAQ
Ruthy is a cultural tourism mobile app that lets you discover cities through geolocated historical audio stories tied to real historical places. It's free on iOS and Android, with 13 cities and 430+ narrated stories.
Ruthy is available in 13 cities: Rome, Madrid, Paris, Florence, Pisa, Vatican, Milan, Venice, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Dallas, Kansas City, and Boston. Each has its own dedicated landing page at /ruthy/cities. We add new cities regularly.
Yes. Ruthy streams its stories, so you'll need a connection while you explore the city — Wi-Fi, mobile data or a local eSIM. In exchange, the app takes up no space on your phone and you always hear the most up-to-date version of each story.
It's audio only, and audio is light: a single story is a few MB. A normal data plan or a local eSIM is more than enough — there's no video and no heavy downloads. For travel abroad, an eSIM is the most convenient option.
For now, the stories and the interface are in Spanish. We're working on the English version; once it's ready, you'll be able to choose the language from the app's settings.
Yes, we recommend them — to walk the city without disturbing others and to feel immersed in the narration. Works with both wired and Bluetooth headphones.
Ruthy has no pre-set routes or linear itineraries: you choose what to listen to based on where you are. Stories are geolocated to each place: you get near and press play. It's not a tour — it's a layer of context over your own walk. And unlike many alternatives, it's free and ad-free.
Yes. Cities like Pisa, Vatican, or Florence are designed for 1–2 days. Others like Rome, Buenos Aires, or Mexico City give you content for 3–5 days. Each city landing tells you how long to plan for.
No. The experience is built for walking and listening. Open a story, tap play, and keep exploring — the app surfaces nearby places so you can hit play on the next one.
Yes, completely free during this initial phase. There are no ads and no advertising tracking. There are no in-app purchases either.
Ruthy was created by Agustín Vodanovic and Lucas Botta, co-founders of Audora Tech (Córdoba, Argentina). Agustín built the apps, backend and infrastructure; Lucas researches, writes and narrates every story. Original research — no copy-pasted Wikipedia text.
